Arlington Heights, IL
This project began with the tear down of an existing home on the lot. The owner wanted to build a new home that made the most of the available square footage. We built a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath home with a cedar siding exterior and an amazing porch that goes all along the front of the house.
To inspire our design, the owner came to us with a photograph of a new home she saw in another suburb and told us to design her whole house around that photo, and we did. She was looking for an open floor plan concept for the first floor to accommodate ease of entertainment and large family gatherings.
In addition, the kitchen has two reclaimed architecturally significant glass windows from the old house installed above the breakfast bar. Another perk to this home is the second-floor laundry. There’s also a children’s playroom in the basement, with one wall covered chalkboard paint so the children can write and draw on the wall with no repercussions. For the adults, there’s a small bar area and room for a future home theater room in the basement, too!
