Slowly, but surely, spring is coming to the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. The temperatures are starting to creep up and we are just left waiting for the sunny days to begin. While we wait for nature to brighten up our spring days, we thought we would share one of our recent outdoor inspired projects with you. There is no reason we can’t enjoy nature themes both inside and outside of our homes!
When this Mount Prospect couple first approached us about their nature inspired hall bath remodel, we were excited to be a part of the construction. We quickly discovered their love of Door County, Wisconsin and planned how to incorporate that into their bathroom. Each selection item represented a different element of nature. It all came together to be an inviting oasis.
No element was overlooked in this space. The rustic cherry vanity helps set the tone for a warm and inviting bathroom. The upper vanity surround had shelving for the homeowners to store essentials, as well as to display pictures and trinkets from their various trips to Door County. The tile chosen for the floor and the shower walls was neutral in color and design in order to let the accent band be the focus. The pebble stone tile surrounds the entire shower as an accent band and was chosen for the recessed niche. Even the cabinet door hardware was inspired by the outdoors. When the homeowner found the door handles, they immediately reminded her of a free flowing water drop. She knew that they had to be incorporated into her bathroom!
We have already covered the wooden, stone and water inspiration of the bathroom, but what about some plant life? Plants were not forgotten! A reclaimed wood towel rack was installed and brought to life with plants separating each towel hook. There is also a large plant on a shelf of the vanity surround. The plants give the space color and life.
The last part of this bathroom that helps to bring the outdoors inside was the skylight. This bathroom doubles as a master and a hall bath. Because of its location in the house, the bathroom had no windows of any form before the remodel. Now there is a skylight that makes a huge difference giving the space a bright and airy feeling.
With so much personalization, we wanted to make sure this was a bathroom the homeowners could use for a lifetime. We installed grab bars and rails to make the space safe and even more accessible. All the details came together here and the homeowners are thrilled to start their mornings in this peaceful space!
